Salmon Creek Volunteers Needed

Hello Friends of Salmon Creek,
For 2013 the dates are
Saturday February 16th 10 AM –Noon
Saturday March 9th: Salmon Creek – 10 AM –Noon
Along the pathway near the sewer treatment plant we need to clear the Himalayan Blackberry and English Ivy plants that have emerged. I have lots of heavy leather gloves for this sticky task. At the March work party native plants will be available for planting.
You might be interested to know that Trout Unlimited members placed 450 salmon fry in Salmon Creek last weekend. Water quality in Salmon Creek is excellent, better than most creeks that empty into Puget Sound. Increasing the number of native plants will provide needed forage for native insects that the young salmon will eat. Our work is to restore the native food web and improve our salmon ‘nursery’.
Please add a work party or two at Salmon Creek Ravine to your calendar.
Thank you very much.
